Antifat or Antiqueer hate
Instead of using the language of “fatphobia” or “homophobia” I use the language of antifat or antiqueer hate.
This is out of respect for the Mad community and the way they’ve educated us on how phobia is a very real thing that often occurs in people who are not displaying hateful behavior.
People of the global majority
This is the term I use when referring to all nonwhite people. I use it to help add emphasis to the fact that white people are actually a minority on the planet even thought white supremacy wrongly embravens white folks to act otherwise.
Necessary uncomfy
I often use the term "necessary uncomfy" to refer to the work we do to understand others and decolonize that feels uncomfortable because it is new and often challenging information but is important all the same.
Predisabled
This is how I refer to anyone who is not yet disabled.
Disability is something that will happen to every single person if they live long enough and can happen to any of us at any time.
Neuroprivileged
This is the term I use to refer to anyone who isn’t neurodivergent.
Having a brain that isn’t neurodivergent is a privilege in our current society.
Racialized people
Another term for people of the global majority that acknowledges race as a social construct.
Identified vs. diagnosed
When speaking about anything that happens in my body (autism, OCD, asexuality, disabilities) I often use the word "identified" instead of diagnosed.
I do this both because I am often not formally diagnosed and respect those who are also not formally diagnosed and because I believe no one knows what is going on in our own bodies more than each person.
