You Can’t Have What You Want Because of War

A lot of people don’t understand that the reason the US doesn’t have universal health care, free education/daycare/preschool, parental leave, universal basic income, and other social support programs like our “developed nations” counterparts is because of the US military industrial complex.
Who would volunteer for pointless wars if they were already properly fed, housed, cared for, and educated?

The pentagon hasn’t been able to account for its budget in YEARS and we just keep writing blank checks. And all of this is because since its inception, the US has been an arms dealer where rich people benefit from death, destruction, and enslavement.
It’s important when we look at what is happening around the world, what we are funding, we acknowledge why. AND it’s important that we understand what we are giving up for those choices There is no way enough of us will be ready to make a real difference without that understanding,

We must keep speaking out against the death and destruction we are witnessing. But an essential part of liberation is also imagining the world we want instead. Let’s be done living inside the imaginations of white men and embrace the imaginations of Indigenous people about what we could have instead of war.
